Caesar salad is one of the best salads out there. Agreed? I love making it as a side dish for dinner or adding chicken to make it a full meal. If time allows, please go the extra mile and throw together homemade croutons and my Caesar-ish dressing. It's especially perfect for a Sunday night dinner, when you've got leftover sourdough from Shabbos! The nutritional yeast adds that classic cheesy flavor that you would get from parmesan cheese but without the cheese, making it perfect for a kosher diet. So without further ado, here's my best dairy free chicken Caesar wraps recipe!
Ingredients:
- Romaine lettuce- I like to buy the prechecked leaves and chop them myself for ultimate crunch. A bag of ready chopped works well in a pinch.
- Sourdough croutons- Homemade croutons are both resourceful and oh so much better then store bought. See if you can resist snacking on them straight off the tray!
- Caeser-ish dressing- My go-to creamy dressing. It doesn't contain the classic Caesar ingredients, hence the "ish". It goes well with so many salads!
- Wraps
- Grilled chicken - You can use leftover shredded chicken, pan seared cutlets, or try my basic grilled chicken recipe.
- Nutritional yeast- nutritional yeast is a dairy-free food seasoning favored especially by vegans for its cheesy, umami-rich flavor.
How to make the best dairy free chicken Caesar wraps
Start by cutting up the bread into cubes and placing on a parchment lined baking tray. Season with oil and spices and bake. While the croutons are baking, whisk together the dressing, chop the romaine, and marinate the chicken. Next, grill the chicken on an outdoor grill or on a grill pan. When all the components are ready, combine the chopped romaine, croutons, grilled chicken, nutritional yeast and dressing. Place into the center of the wrap. Fold the bottom over, the sides in and roll. Slice in half and enjoy.

Ingredients
Salad
- 1 head romaine lettuce chopped
- ¼ cup nutritional yeast
- 4 wheat wraps
Chicken
- 1.5 lb chicken breast
- salt and pepper
- zest of 1 lemon optional
- 2 tablespoon olive oil
Croutons
- 1 small loaf of sourdough
- salt and garlic powder
- 2 tablespoon olive oil
Caesar-ish dressing
- ½ c mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoon water
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vinegar
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon sugar optional
Instructions
- While the croutons are baking, whisk together the dressing and set aside.
- Chop the romaine. Combine the chicken, salt, pepper, and lemon zest in a bowl. Toss to coat. Grill the chicken on an outdoor grill or on a grill pan for 2-4 minutes per side. Cool slightly before slicing into strips.
- When all the components are ready, combine the chopped romaine, croutons, grilled chicken, nutritional yeast and dressing. Place into the center of the wrap. Fold the bottom over, the sides in and roll. Slice in half and enjoy.
