This post on how to: rainbow Bundt cake is inspired by the weekly Torah portion or Parsha. This weeks Parsha is Noach, where we read all about Noah and his ark, a rather famous story! Every week, my family discusses what the girls learned on the Parsha around the Shabbos table. When I can, I like to make a little something special to spark that conversation such as this rainbow cake! The rainbow in the sky after the flood was a promise that Gd would never destroy the world by flood again.
In the spirit of busy moms around the world, getting back into routine right after Sukkos, I like to keep it super simple with a ready made cake mix.
What ingredients do you need to make a rainbow Bundt cake?
- White cake mix (not vanilla, plain white)
- Food coloring (I prefer gel for its concentrated and beautiful color)
How to: rainbow Bundt cake:
Make the cake mix according to the package directions. Divide the batter evenly among 6 bowls. Color each bowl with a few drops of food coloring and mix well to incorporate the color. I like to use gel food coloring which results in a bolder color finished product.
Grease a Bundt pan and start layering your cake by pouring the red cake mix in first and then continuing in the order of the rainbow ending with pink or purple. Bake according to package directions.
Do I need any special equipment to make the cake?
not really, just a Bundt pan. You can even mix the cake mix without a mixer and by hand if you'd like.
Storing:
Bundt cake will stay fresh in an airtight container on the counter for up to 48 hours. If you do happen to have any left, you can refrigerate it for up to 5 days.
