I'm sure you've been seeing this iced strawberry matcha latte floating around social media lately. It's a essentially some sort of strawberry puree, either fresh or in jam form, that's layered in a glass along with ice, milk, and brewed matcha. I'm generally a matcha purist, and enjoy my lattes without any sweetener. (I just love the pure green tea taste) However, when I saw this idea, I was excited because everything with strawberries is better! I was right!

What you'll need to make an iced strawberry matcha latte
- Fresh strawberries
- Granulated sugar- maple syrup or honey also work well
- Milk- of your choice! My go-to is whole milk.
- Matcha powder- make sure you use a high quality one. I like the Leigh Leaf brand.
- Hot water
- Ice
How to make it:
- In a tall glass, mash the fresh strawberries and sugar with a muddler. If you don't have one, you can also puree them in a blender or finely chip with a knife.
- Add ice to the glass and set aside.
- Add the water to the matcha powder and whisk with a matcha whisk or an electric handheld frother.
- Next, I like to froth the milk in a separate glass but you can skip this step if you don't want to.
- Pour the milk over the ice and then add the whisked matcha.
Making iced strawberry matcha latte in advance:
This drink is best when consumed immediately. If you wanted to do some prep in advance, I would recommend making the strawberry puree. You could even double or triple it so that next time, you can make the drink quicker! The puree will last in the fridge for 3-5 days.
Tell me more about matcha
Matcha is a finely ground green tea leaves. Unlike regular steeped green tea, matcha contains the whole leaf, not just the extracts so it's more potent in terms of nutrients and antioxidants. It has a gorgeous vibrant green color which nicely contrasts the bright red of the strawberry puree and white milk.
