It definitely takes a little more effort then just popping open a can, but I'm sure you'll agree it is well worth it. Ingredients

    • Canned great northern beans, drained and rinsed: They are my favorite kind to use here because they have a mild flavor, creamy texture, and hold their shape well while baking. You can use navy beans, which is a little more classic, if you'd prefer.
    • Ground beef: Adds meaty goodness to the recipe.
    • Onion
    • Beef facon: Adds a smokey and salty flavor.
    • Molasses: Helps thicken the sauce and provides a sweet and complex flavor profile.
    • BBQ sauce: Use your favorite one! You can even try a spicy one for an added kick.
    • Dark brown sugar or coconut sugar
    • Ketchup: Adds a richness of tomato and vinegary goodness. As well as a thicker texture to the beans.
    • Worcestershire sauce: Adds a savory and rich umami flavor.
    • Dijon mustard: Adds a tangy and lightly spicy element that helps balance the the sweetness.
    • Spices (salt, pepper, garlic powder)
