Crispy Sesame Chicken

A classic crispy sesame chicken recipe that is sure to become a weeknight staple in your home.

Ingredients
  

Chicken:

  • 1 lb boneless and skinless chicken breasts cut into 1" cubes
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 Tbsp cornstarch
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ tsp pepper
  • 2 tablespoon oil

Sauce:

  • ½ cup water
  • ½ cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • ¾ teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 ½ Tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tsp sweet chili sauce optional
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • ¼ teaspoon ginger powder
  • 2 teaspoon sesame seeds
  • 1 bunch scallions, chopped for serving

Instructions
 

  • In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch, egg, salt and pepper. Add the chicken cubes to the bowl and toss well to coat.
  • Whisk the sauce ingredients together in a bowl.
  • In a large skillet, heat up 1 tablespoon olive oil. Cook the chicken until it's golden on both sides, working in batches. Use the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil as needed.
  • Once the chicken is done, pour the sauce over the chicken and cook until it thickens.
  • Toss in the sesame seeds and mix.
  • Garnish with chopped scallions serve over rice.
