Grilled spiralized deli style hot dogs

What the what?! Grilled spiralized deli style hot dogs is quite a mouthful. Get this, so is the actual hot dog. Sooo the history between the classic hot dog and myself is quite long…and frequent. They were basically my most favorite food until I grew up. (or until the calendar said  I did…) I think it’s that I became a little more exposed to actual real foods and realized hot dogs were cool…but not my favorite anymore.

When it comes to July 4, you must BBQ. I don’t care if it’s 102 F or 60 F (although I wouldn’t be surprised with the history the weather has been having lately) you must grill on July 4. Or else…we will question your nationality. “Will sweat for food.” is the exact slogan I believe. Classic food at a bbq include burgers, corn on the cob, and of course the beloved hot dog. I ALWAYS grill hot dogs on July 4. This year, we had some fun spiralizing them (you can check out our IGTV episode and loading them with sauerkraut, grainy mustard, and topping them off with everything bagel seasoning. The best part about spiralizing is not only the incredibly the fun shape….but how crispy all the little cuts get! The toppings just fall into those meaty grooves for more deliciousness in every bite!!

I’ve discovered I LOVE sauerkraut. It’s that tanginess that has become so trendy in the health food world, and i’m sure i’ll be making my own homemade version sometime in the near future. Enjoy this epic sandwich with an ice cold glass of coca cola, and your basically living the American dream (right Yossi?)

Grilled spiralized deli style hot dogs


  • 8 hot dogs
  • 8 hot dog buns
  • Grainy mustard
  • Sauerkraut
  • Everything bagel seasoning
  • You will also need:
  • skewer
  • knife
  • cutting board


  1. Place a cutting board down on a flat surface. Skewer one hot dog lengthwise. Carefully cut down side of each hot dog while rotating skewer the entire length of the hot dog. Slightly pull hot dog apart to expose spiral shape.
  2. Grill until crispy. Place the hot dog into a bun and top with sauerkraut, mustard, and everything bagel seasoning.
